  • Our Wood

Our wood is sourced from my Dad’s woodshed & workshop at my family home in Perthshire, Scotland. We use both naturally-fallen timber as well as hardwood offcuts sourced sustainably and ethically from my Dad. Nothing goes to waste & working with wood is both incredibly satisfying and important in us being an Eco Conscious business.

  • It's In The Family

Growing up in a highly creative family & environment of interior designers, fine artists & house renovations- it’s been a natural step of Faodail emerging. I’m mostly self-taught but have learnt a lot from my incredible Dad (a cabinet & furniture designer/retired interior designer) and all round woodwork connoisseur!

The Face Behind Faodail

Hello! I’m Alexa, the very proud owner, self-taught maker and designer of Faodail Studio. My journey with Faodail began six years ago with an initial focus on upcycling & restoring antique and vintage furniture. Since then, Faodail has flourished into a thriving eco-conscious home and lifestyle business offering a wide array of beautiful, unique products as well as facilitating creative workshops and collaborations. Coming from a highly creative family, creativity, design and colour has played a key part in every stage of my life and I find a lot of my inspiration comes from the years I spent travelling and life abroad, particularly my time spent living, volunteering and working in Mexico. I’ve always cared deeply about the protection, conservation and education about our beautiful planet so in many ways Faodail has been a natural path that I was obviously destined to carve for myself and I feel incredibly grateful to be creating a gorgeous and healthy coastal lifestyle on the beautiful East Lothian Coast.

With a profound passion and love for interior design, cooking feasts for family and friends, photography, gardening/plants and nature I channel my natural eye for detail and colourful creativity into all aspects of my life. I lovingly create all of our products and curates collections that are unique, sustainable, plastic-free, handcrafted and eco-conscious. My new illustrations and designs are greatly influenced by my coastal and travelling lifestyle and are colourful, uplifting, high-quality and sustainable.

Sustainable Timber Statement

Faodail uses natural and sustainable materials to produce beautiful items of furniture and handmade gifts, priding itself on adopting and maintaining an ethical and sustainable approach to the timber used in all our products. Where possible, we use the most eco-friendly products and processes which will continue to be an integral part of our longer-term business model.

Each individual item of wooden furniture we upcycle is second-hand/pre-loved and sourced from within the UK only and is upcycled by hand using as many eco-friendly products as possible. All of the wood used in making our handmade products is sourced from naturally-fallen local Scottish wood or unique hardwood off-cuts sourced from a specialised Scottish-based furniture designer (my Dad!).

We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking and environmentally aware business who over the years to come, will invest both time, a percentage of our profits and some of our resources, to promoting the conservation and protection of the environment.

When you purchase one of Faodail’s products you are supporting a small local business that cares about producing beautiful sustainable products. You are also purchasing items that contribute towards the wider global movement of reusing, upcycling, recycling and being more environmentally aware and respectful.

Thank you so much for your support!
